As I watched the CNN Heroes awards last night, it inspired me to do more for those in need and recruit others along the way.
At the start of 2012 the JHE team started a campaign named 25 Days of Service in support of our 25th year anniversary. The program asked JHE team members to commit to producing one charity event each until our board had participated in 25 separate programs throughout our silver anniversary year. The team was pumped to engage with their favorite charities and get the support of the entire company along the way. We made friends with hundreds of amazing people desperately in need and hopefully made a measurable difference in our community.
The success of the 2012 program was so inspiring that we committed to continue the initiative under the umbrella of Giving for Good. In 2013, we have produced one event each month and have kept employee participation at an incredibly high rate. Our signature event is a golf tournament that we created to support JHE family members in need. This was the third year for the Golfing 4 Good event and we raised more than $30,000 for the mother-in-law of a JHE team member who had recently been diagnosed with stage four breast and bone cancer, Isabelle Ledford. I am proud to be a part of this program and look forward to what we will be able to accomplish as a team for many years to come.
