3 Tips From A Prepper
My Twitter profile says that I am a doomsday prepper ready for all zombies. That’s a bold statement, and while I might be ready for The Walking Dead to become a reality, COVID is a whole different ball of wax. I’ve been living a prepared lifestyle for the last 15 years, so whether it was a solar… View Article

Don’t Touch That
With the recent change of events and COVID-19 making its way around the world, we are all hyper aware of new topics that likely were not in our vocabulary in our previous life. This new world is making us acutely aware of things like how a virus is transmitted, social distancing protocols, and the classification… View Article

Just over 18 years ago, I was working at an event production agency that had a website that was in desperate need of a serious overhaul. We interviewed a half dozen local agencies before this crazy guy named Glenn Boothe walked in the door. He immediately stood out as someone who thought different. It’s rare… View Article

Never Stop Learning
I don’t own a welder, a welding helmet, or even a pair of welding gloves, so when a buddy mentioned that he was teaching an Intro to TIG Welding class my immediate reaction was, “Can I attend?” You might be asking the same question that my wife did: “Why would you waste a full weekend to learn… View Article

Last Flight Of 2019 – Thoughts From The Air
As I sit in seat 2F, returning home from the ISM holiday party on what is happily my last flight of the year, I keep thinking about how 2019 was a year of building. The highs weren’t as high as years past, but happily the lows weren’t as low either; this was your average grind… View Article

Who Works For Whom?
I was recently at an event filled with friends-turned-coworkers when someone asked, “Michael, do all these people work for you?” That question felt strange for two reasons. Firstly, I have been blessed to create long-lasting friendships with coworkers ever since my very first job, and I have never spent much time thinking about who… View Article

Look Them In The Eyes
I have held management positions within a half dozen companies over the last 20 years and no matter how large or small my team was, I have always struggled to communicate efficiently. I have tried weekly staff meetings, daily huddles, and quarterly retreats, but no matter how many calls I made to “check in,” my team members were continually sharing their desire to connect more.

Strangest Interview Question Ever
I can’t leap tall buildings in a single bound, but I do have an equally unique superpower that allows me to bring groups of seemingly unconnected people together to work towards a common goal. I can teach truck drivers to talk to developers and sales guys to communicate with laborers. I have always been able to connect with people quickly and simply take for granted the fact that that everyone cannot get to know the elevator operator or the forklift driver—even if they want to.

The Winston
Did you know that this weekend is the craziest NASCAR race of the year? Saturday night is the NASCAR Monster Energy All Star Race—as a true NASCAR OG—something I prefer to refer to as The Winston. The Winston is a non-points event (it doesn’t count for or against a team’s yearly accumulation of championship points), where competitors are handsomely rewarded for winning and nothing else.

Play Ball
Fresh off a music tour last fall, I was asked to assemble a team capable of building the first national advertising network at Minor League Baseball stadiums around the country. Now, shortly after Opening Day 2019, all I can say is, “Play Ball!”
